In early November 2023, James Esses, a psychologist, lawyer and writer from the UK, launched The Declaration of Biological Reality (UK).
In his words, that declaration “…is to demonstrate to those in power the strength of feeling that exists across the United Kingdom in terms of the detrimental impact of gender identity ideology.”
In October 2023, Phil Dye, an Australian biology educator, podcast host and author, contacted James about the formation of an Australian Declaration.

As a past Educator is the School of Medical Sciences at UNSW, Phil had taught about human biology and the impossibility of ‘changing’ sex. The biologically impossible teachings about sex change to primary school students particularly worried him. He’d occasionally quote author and Heritage Foundation Research Fellow Ryan Anderson.
“Sex change is physically impossible, psychosocially unhelpful, and philosophically misguided.”
The Australian Declaration launched in late November 2023 and was incorporated as a committee-managed non-profit organisation in May 2024. The committee hope the Declaration reaches 8,000 signatures before the end of 2026. Management Committee details and the Constitution can be found HERE.
The Declaration is a fully Incorporated Association under NSW Law INC2400238
Signatories have no membership or obligation, yet support the Declaration’s aims which are:
- To act as a register where Australians can express their concern about the impact of gender ideology on society.
- To raise funds to cover the administration of the Declaration.
- To raise additional funds to promote biological reality in Australian society.
- To educate the public, groups and students on biological facts surrounding the gender issue.
